I Have Some Announcements to Make

Happy Saturday everyone!!!  This has been a great week.  The first thing I want to announce is that I have decided to host a weekly linky party!!  This time next Saturday - come one come all and link up to Saturday Social at Social Salutations!!  I have been linking up to so many fabulous parties over the past few months, and have decided that I think I want to try to host one myself.  It's kind of scary - what if no one comes?  But I'll never know until I try, right?

The second announcement is that my sister Nicole gave birth to her beautiful daughter Brooklyn!!  Brooklyn Jennifer (she was named after me!) was born May 19th at 5:08pm.  She was 7lbs 11oz and 20 inches long.  The whole family is doing great - well except for me because I haven't gotten to hold her yet!!  I have a trip planned at the end of June, and cannot WAIT to get my hands on that baby!!  LOL.

Have a great Saturday!!  The temperature is supposed to reach 91 degrees here today, and we are off to the lake!!

Craft Frenzy - Part 2

Hope you enjoyed all of our beautiful treasures from yesterday!  Today I have LOTS MORE!  If I told you we were on a roll - it would be an understatement.  I am not even posting all of the pictures - it was so much!  Here we go:

The first started out as a plain black bracelet.  Ginger made a bunch of these flowers so she added it to my bracelet.  Doesn't it look like a corsage?

The turquoise beaded chain shown here was way too short, so it sat in my jewelry box unused for years.  Ginger added a chain to the top to make it longer, and then used a few of my parts and pieces and one of her old earrings to make the pendant.

The base of this necklace is still in tact.  I loved it with the crocheted flower, and then we added a broken earring to the center.  I heart this one!

Ginger had a necklace that was also too short.  It was doubled up, so she detached it and added the heart pendant.

This is one of our faves.  All it took to make this wooden necklace was to add one of the beautiful yellow peonies!  This color combo rocks!

This was a fun little cluster.  I think this one looks like an Anthro knockoff!

Last but not least is the burlap.  You can't have a crafting session without burlap!!

Wow - what a night!  We had a blast.  I think we need to do this more often - it's been way too long!!  Stay tuned - you should be seeing more from my friend Ginger soon!!

Have an awesome day!

Craft Frenzy - Part 1

So, I had quite the weekend!  My friend Ginger and I craft together quite a bit - we both love making stuff - and everytime we get together it turns into a CRAFT FRENZY!  We haven't done this in awhile, so as you can imagine, it was a little like being on crafting celibacy.  On Saturday, she sent me a text asking if I wanted to bring over all of my unused jewelry so that we could join forces (and stuff) and re-style everything into new, fun things to wear.  I was so excited!  I have been wanting to do this for awhile, but it kept moving to the bottom of my list.  FUN!!  Needless to say, we drank a lot of wine, and stayed up until 4am (typical for us).  Isn't it fun crafting with friends?

So - I have a lot of things to show you.  So much so, that I am going to have to break this post up into two parts.  This is what we started with (some of it isn't shown) - big pile of broken necklaces, pieces and parts, some earrings, bracelets - you name it.

And here are some of the things we made.  For the first necklace, I just added some braided cotton yarn and wound it around the beads for a nautical look:

This second necklace started out as a pile of beads from various necklaces.  I reconstructed this one from scratch on some hemp twine and then added some ribbon to the neck:

The third project was Ginger's favorite.  I showed her how to make the burned satin flowers - she catches on fast!!  LOL.  (She's awesome, seriously).  These started out as old flip flops she wears to the pool, and ended up looking totally beautiful!

So, for the rest (I will share a one more today and the rest tomorrow), we don't have any closeup before pics.  Sorry - the wine made me forget!!  You might be able to see a few pieces in my pile above.

Whew!!  We were busy, right???  We had a total blast!

Till tomorrow!

Office Inspiration

Hey everyone!!  Hope you are having a great week!  I started my new job yesterday and absolutely LOVE it.  I have been training at my boss's house all week, working in her home office, and it has totally inspired me to start figuring out what I want to do in mine.  I was laying in bed the other night and had a vision for my office come to me, and haven't been able to forget it.  I had originally planned to paint the whole room a pale gray, but the other night saw (in my head) white board and batten with a dark charcoal gray wall.

Have you been on Houzz yet?  I have been on this site before, but tonight I spent some time and found a ton of inspiration.  My office is a little tricky.  Remember the giant fish my husband has??  Well, to go along with those are two trophy deer mounts (again, please don't judge me, :o), LOL).  They are hanging in the office now, and I promised him he could keep them.  That makes my job a little bit harder, but worth the challenge I might add!

Here's some of my inspiration.  I want rustic meets contemporary.  Manly meets girly.  We'll see how I do!!

Ahhh, now I just need to add board and batten to hubby's honey do list!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Last year, I received these quotes from kids in an email forward.  I absolutely LOVED them.  Just wanted to share these with you.  Have a wonderful Mother's Day!!

Answers given by elementary school age children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other Mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your Mom?
1. My Mom has always been my Mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3 They say she used to be nice.

What did Mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your Mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms work at work & work at home, & dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.  Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your Mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your Mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my Mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on her back.
