Friday I'm In Love - Time to Accessorize!!

These days, getting dressed in the morning is no small feat.  The baby bump challenges me every day to rummage through my closet to see what still fits!  Everytime I find something that works, 2 days later it somehow becomes too small.  My new theory has become, when in doubt, keep it simple and ACCESSORIZE!!  So lately I have been finding myself pouring through blogs to find some new accessory ideas.  I think I found some great ones this week!!

This first project from Elisabeth Andree is so awesome!!  This scarf also doubles as sleeves with the use of buttons!  So ingenious!  There are actually more options on Andree's blog on how to wear this.  I wish I knew how to knit so I could make one of these!  If anything, I am totally inspired!!

How amazing is this Recycled Pearl Bracelet from Anne at Wobisobi?  I love the black and white - this would go with anything!  So pretty!!

Ever since last year, I have had a minor major obsession with leg warmers! I loved the addition of the buttons on these by Design Adventures.  So cute, right?

Heather and Jessica at A Couple of Craft Addicts made this adorable Anthro-Inspired Ruffle Scarf.  They share the tutorial on their blog - it's totally do-able!  I will definitely be attempting this one!

And finally - I fell in love with this Crochet Flower Headband that Jane at Jenny and Teddy Creation made.  This would be an adorable addition to a plain T-shirt and jeans look.  LOVE!!

So there you go!  These are all so amazing - now i just have to learn how to knit and crochet.  If you were featured - please feel free to grab a button from my sidebar.  Have a great weekend everyone!!

Trip to the Pumpkin Farm

On Sunday, Addison and I took a trip to Burt's Pumpkin Farm.  The weather was perfect for it - cool and crisp!  I had been wanting to take her there since she was a baby, and finally - we found a good weekend to go.  Daddy was hunting, so this was the perfect girls trip!

From the minute we got there - Addie had a field day - somehow, her theme of the day was "Thumbs Up"!  I guess that means I did a good job picking out the activity!

She was running up and down the aisles of these huge pumpkins, trying to pick out the very best one!

Since it was just the two of us, this was my attempt at a a shot of us together - whoa - closeup!

They had a bunch of great photo ops there - here is Addie in the hay barn!  Thumbs Up!

They even had some of mommy's favorite - white pumpkins!  We had to bring home one of these!

All in all, I would say the trip was a success.  She had a blast picking out her favorite tiny pumpkin - this one happened to be an acorn squash - it went everywhere with us - on the hayride and even on the trip home!

All day, she kept looking at me with a huge smile on her face saying "Thank you so much for bringing me here!  You're the greatest mommy in the whole wide world!"  Aww, thanks sweetie - you deserved a fun day - I love you!

I guess this means that we should take a trip to the Christmas tree farm this year.  Much more fun than a fake tree for sure!

Yard Sale Finds!!

Twice a year, my neighborhood hosts a community yard sale from Friday - Sunday.  Usually, I can't go "shopping" on Friday morning, but now that I work from home - I was out the door as soon as Addie got on the school bus!  I didn't have a ton of time, but had a strategy that definitely worked out in my favor.  There is a section of newer houses (my neighborhood is huge) - so my plan was to start there.  In the past, I have started on the side of the older houses, which, after all of the years of living here, those people have already sold everything.  My plan was, if I started with the newer houses, I had a better shot of finding those hidden gems - jackpot!

First, I found this bread box, which is rather country looking at the moment, but I have ideas for this one!!  In between this house and the next lovely find, I picked Addie up some puzzles, a few barbie dolls, a really cute fall jacket, and some crocs!  I also found a king-sized sheet set for $12.

Then, I found a house with some really great, really low priced vintage items.  I had my eye on an awesome bird cage (for $5) but as I was staring at it trying to think of where I could put it, a lady came up and snatched it right out from under me!  You snooze you lose, I guess!

But I did get this really beautiful silver bowl (made in Denmark in 1928), which I scored for $4!  Then, the piece de resistance.....

I have been looking for a cool frame that I can turn into a memo board.  SCORE!  I love the carved details on this old wooden frame, and for only $2!  This is perfect for my project!!

So, all in all, in an hour's time - I think I did pretty good!!  LOVE other people's trash!

Friday I'm In Love - Week 20!!

Wow - if this feature series were a pregnancy - I would be half way there!  Weird that I am 15 weeks now, and it feels like a lot more than 5 weeks in between when I started this series, and...well - you know.  :o)  Sorry - TMI.

I love browsing the blogosphere for ideas and inspiration.  This week, I saw a lot of fun home projects that  I wanted to feature.  From room makeovers, to furniture makeovers, I just love each and every one of these.

I thought that this Pottery Barn sign knock off was very well done.  Dana from The Crafted Niche tackled this project with her sister, and I think it came out better than the original!

This collection of painted treasures from Petticoat Junction just makes me happy.  I look at each and every item that Kathy painted and imagine exactly where it could go in my house!

Carrie's bathroom makeover is just too amazing!  I love the gray walls, rustic mirror and white cabinets all together.  This looks like something out of a magazine!!  Check out the before and after at her blog The Corson Cottage!

What a fabulous idea by Esther at Fleur Cottage to use a mantle as a headboard!! Her bedroom transformation is incredible!  I love the clean lines here - and the ability to have an extra mantle to accessorize!!

Sommer at Designer Garden did a fabulous job on this cute little side table that she found at a yard sale for $30!!  Love the shape, colors, and of course the birds!!

Numbered Chairs

The name of the game around here lately has been PROCRASTINATION!!  I have a ton of projects that I keep adding to my list, and with the baby coming, that list will continue to grow.  I completed my kitchen table and chairs in the beginning of the summer, but have been wanting to number the backs of the chairs forever.  I was afraid after all of the sanding and painting, that somehow I would screw up all of that hard work.  Finally, I decided - just do it!

It literally took me all of 30 minutes, and was the easiest project I have done in a long time!  I should have known.  Either way - I am thrilled with the way they came out!

All I did was create a stencil by cutting out the numbers and letters with my cricut.  I used quilting spray (that I had on hand) and lightly sprayed the back of the cardstock and stuck it down where I wanted it.  Then I taped down the edges with painters tape to make sure it didn't slide.  Then, after debating on whether or not to paint it, I decided that the easiest and cleanest way was just to fill it in with black Sharpie!

Easy peasy - and it came out exactly like I wanted it to!

All done - now I need to start tackling the rest of the to-do list!!!
