The Countdown is On!!

The other night, Hubby and I were watching HGTV while we were cleaning up after dinner.  As I was doing the dishes, I heard a promotion about the new season of Design Star.  I whipped my head around so fast, I almost got whiplash!  "What did they say!" I yelled across the room to hubby, "When does it start?"  I think my sudden excitement scared him a bit - he jumped.... whoops!

Design Star Season 6 Contestants and host Tanika Ray and Mentor David Bromstad
Well, guess what?!  The Design Star premiere is tonight!!  I must say, I'm a little torn this season. There is a designer from Atlanta, Doug Hines, and also two designers from New Jersey, Blanche Garcia and Tyler WislerI checked all of their bios and designs, and I cannot decide who to root for!  I think I may be leaning towards Blanche (don't hate me my southern friends)!

Every season so far, the winners have been amazing.  I watch each and every one of their solo shows - they are my must see TV.  I can't wait to see the challenges this season, and hear the judges feedback.  I swear I am like a little kid waiting for Christmas!

Tune in tonight at 9pm/8c on HGTV.  Let me know tomorrow what you thought - any favorites?  Who do you think is going to win??

We will see, we will see....only 13 hours to go!

Saturday Social Features

Thank you again to everyone who linked up to Saturday Social this week!!  We didn't have a whole lotta people link up, but those who did made some pretty amazing stuff!!  Does anyone have any ideas on how I can promote this party more?  Those of you who link up, are consistent every week, and I am so grateful for each and every one of you!!

OK - enough about my sob story - let's get to the features!!

The first is this Anthropology Skirt Knock Off made by Margo at Be Slightly Askew.  The original cost $118 and she made it for $20!  Wow!  I would LOVE to wear this!!

I LOVE FUNNEL CAKE!!!  I got some when we were at the boardwalk in NJ, and seeing this funnel cake that Lucy at Craftberry Bush made is making my mouth water!  Who knew you could make funnel cake at home?

This little Pleated and Zippered Pouch is so cute!  Aren't the colors awesome?  Head over to The Big Green Blog to get the tutorial from Kara!

Feel free to grab my featured button from my sidebar if I featured you!  I hope you all had a great weekend, and have an even better week!!

Saturday Social - Week 7!

Hey hey hey!!  It's that time again!  I love short weeks, don't you?  Finally time to relax - I live for summer weekends!  I plan on crafting my butt off this weekend - finishing Addie's birthday invitations, and getting my project ready for my CSI Project post next week - I am so excited!!  Make sure you tune in on Wednesday for my guest post!!  (Don't worry, I'll remind you!)

For now though, it's time to link up your best projects from the week - I want to see what you've been working on!  I love new inspiration!!!

Here's how it works:

Link to a Specific Post - not just your blog homepage (we want to be able to find your creation!). Share any handmade craft, home decor, or recipe you would like (just no Etsy shops or items for sale please).

Grab a button below, or have a link back to my blog…so everyone can join in the party!

Be social and visit some of your Linky Neighbors - mingling makes for a better party!!

Happy Linking - show me whatcha got!!

Friday I'm In Love - with a Little Twist!

Happy Friday everyone!!  I wanted to do something a little different this week for my 7th! Edition of Friday I'm In Love.  Usually I choose 5 of my favorite blog posts/projects for the week, but this week I wanted to focus on one EXTREMELY talented lady.  Some of you may know (and some may not) that my love for crafts started with paper.  I LOVE designing stationery, and to this day, it is by far the most soothing and rewarding thing I do.

A few years ago I came upon Lori's blog - Paper and Thread.  Her creativity is amazing, and her designs are so inspirational to me.  She is the reason I decided to get a sewing machine!  Not for fabric - but to incorporate stitching into my stationery designs.  Her work is so beautifully crafted, and each and every piece is one of a kind.

Lori designs everything -  wedding invitations, save the dates, children's party invitations, corporate stationery - you name it!  What started out as a home studio has grown, and in the last 6 months she has opened up her own studio!  She's kind of my idol!

Here are are just a few of my favorite things she designed (I really love everything, but you'll have to visit her blog to see it all)!!

Beautiful, right?  I love her stuff!!

Have a great Friday!  Don't forget to tune in tonight for Saturday Social!!

Addison's Birthday Preparation

Addie's birthday is rapidly approaching, and after many themes tossed about, she finally decided on a Movie Party!!  This was music to my ears, because we just happen to have a movie theater in our neighborhood clubhouse.  Easy Peasy, and MUCH cheaper than having it at the roller skating rink.  Her invites need to get out this week, and I finished the mock up last night.  The details need to be tightened up, but this is the design we are going with!

I wanted the invite to resemble a movie ticket.  The color scheme was hard to decide on, but in the end I went with Hollywood Glamour - Silver, Gold and Black!

I don't know if it really picked up in these photos, but I wanted all of the gold letters to sparkle.  Since I am printing these all at home, and foiling is out of the question, I used a clear glittery gel pen to color over all of the gold letters.  This left it with a shimmer - and in person, it looks awesome!

You can kind of see the sparkle more in this image below...

OK - invite design down, now I have to start printing and assembling.  Luckily the theater has limited seating, so I only have 16 invites to make.  I need to get these out!

UPDATE:  The printable files for these invitations are now available in my Etsy Shop.
