Cuckoo for Camo

When Addison came home from Summer Camp yesterday, I found myself faced with a challenge.  She told me that they are learning about the military (to celebrate Memorial Day) and that everyone has to wear camouflage to camp today.  Addison is as girly as they come - and although she likes to fish and watch hunting shows with her daddy - she doesn't have a lick of camouflage in her closet.   I started making calls to some of my friends in the neighborhood that have little boys to see if they had any old camo t-shirts in their closets.  Low and behold, my friend's husband had an old pair of shorts that were on their way to the trash - score!

So last night, I made Addie a headband to wear today.  Of course I had to add a little pink (for fear that she wouldn't wear it otherwise).  I love the way it came out!

It was a big hit when I dropped her off - and the director said that all of the kids who wore camo today get a special treat!  Yay for Addison!  Have a great Wednesday!!

I Love You Tutu Much - Day 27

Including today, there are only 4 days to go in my Craft Challenge so today I wanted to accomplish two things:
1. Make Addison a fun little Valentine's Gift to give her when she comes home from school
2.  Try something new that I have been wanting to make for a long time

And....that leads me to this adorable little Tutu that I made this morning!

Addie loves pink - SERIOUSLY loves pink, so I paired a pale pink shimmery tulle with some white - alternating around the waist band.  When I was done, it still needed something - more pink and more sparkle.  So I looked through my fabric, found this pink satin and made a posey, sewed a crystal bead to the center and attached some pink and white polka dot grosgrain ribbon.  I was nervous to make these for some reason - but it was totally easy!

I have been wanting to make these for some of the craft shows I have coming up, and for my Etsy Shop.  I think I may become a tutu making fool!!  These are fun!

Till tomorrow!  Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!

More Flowers for Day 9!

I hope you all aren't getting sick of me doing flowers - I just love making them!!  I sought out and found a great tutorial on these flowers that I keep seeing (and trying to make), and finally found one at jones design company.  I was missing one critical step, and she pointed me in the right direction - thanks Emily!

Today I used the same technique on two different projects.  First, I needed wanted a pin to wear for my interview today.  I wanted something simple and soft.  This is the final result - I did this one a bit different than the tutorial above, but I like the way it came out.

I felt like I was copping out a little just doing this one project since I just did a pin the other day, and this is the same fabric I used on my necklace.  So - I decided to make Addison a felt flower headband as well.  She wore it to school this morning.  Poor kid was so tired today!  She made the fake funny smile that I told you about.  Boy - when she gets older, she is going to hate me for posting this!

I wrapped the headband in 100% wool yarn - love the texture!

Now to go prepare for my interview - wish me luck!
Till tomorrow!

Flower Pin - Day 5

Aren't Sunday's supposed to be a day of rest?  I have been so busy today - church, target, Kohls, a birthday party, and now we're finally home.  This is the first chance I have had to post all day!  I knew today would be crazy so I actually cheated and made this last night - shhh, don't tell!

I bought this striped fabric the other day and fell in love with it.  I knew right away that it would look great with burlap.  I wore it today and got lots of compliments on it.  I think it would look great on a jacket too.

Now - to go relax.  Time to get food on the table, bath for Addison and I think we may watch a little football too.

Till tomorrow!!
