Easter Fun

Hello - Happy Saturday!  Sorry I have been MIA the last few days.  I had two job interviews this week, one of which is a fantastic opportunity!  I also have two follow up interviews for both jobs coming up next week, so that has been keeping me pretty busy.  Also this week, a good friend of mine asked if I could make some hair bows and flower appliques for her daughters' Easter Outfits.  The dresses were super cute, so I was really excited to do this for her.  I love color matching things - I'm weird, I know!

I paid her a visit on Thursday to bring over some fabric samples to hold up to the dresses.  We decided on a yellow polka dot and a teal fabric, which matched perfectly.  Her girls don't really like to keep headbands on, so I attached all of the flowers to spring clips for their hair.

The shoes she bought them were cute, white eyelet, but she thought they needed a little extra something.  So, I made little flowers and stitched them on - that way, should she want to remove them, it'll just require a little snip.

Here's a look at the whole ensemble:

Super cute - I hope she takes LOTS of pictures!!  Isn't her dining room awesome?  Her house is so well decorated - I should ask if I can feature some of her skills and ideas on my blog!!

Bat Mitzvah Gift - Sneak Peak

I have been hard at work on some custom scrapbooks as gifts for twin girls who are about to celebrate their Bat Mitzvah.  I finally have all of the pages laid out, and thought I would give you a sneak peak before I started assembling.  The party theme is "Please Don't Stop the Music" and the colors are midnight blue and purple.  These pages in particular are for family pics, and don't incorporate the music theme.  You'll see how I worked that in on the other pages when I post the final project.  Fun fun!!

I was able to work in some tulle onto these pages, which ended up being my favorite part.  One thing I love about scrapbooking is that you can never make a mistake.  When I was punching the holes to stick the brads through the flowers, I noticed that my punch made little divots in the edges of the cream paper.  So, I just went with it and distressed the edges of the paper - mistake hidden AND I think it actually added a little something that was missing.

Till tomorrow!  I am praying that I can show you the final product - hope they are done by then!  I have to take Addie to kindergarten registration tomorrow, so my post may be later in the day than usual.

Spring Wreath

The other night Hubby, Addie and I went for a walk around the neighborhood.  I was admiring everyone's spring decorations, when it hit me!  I never made a spring wreath!!  I was so consumed with decorating my mantle for spring that I completely forgot.  I have a million things going on - orders and working on stuff for my sister's baby shower - but I can put all that aside to throw together a quick wreath, right?  Of course!!  So that's what I did.  Our house is a like an army green color, so I knew that yellow was my color of choice.  I have had the same spring wreath for about 9 years now, and the flowers were way faded on it - it had definitely seen better days.  So - I removed everything from the wreath except for some yellow flowers that were still in good shape.  Then I quickly made some rosettes and burlap flowers and I was done.  I did, however, burn the living daylights out of my fingers with my hot glue gun.  Oh well - that's what I get for rushing I guess.  LOL.

That's it - quick and easy!  Now I have to go nurse my crafting wounds...

Embellished Shirts!

Hey everyone!  This is going to be a quick post today - I am headed to the airport to go visit my mom for a week - yay!!  I had a million things to do before my trip yesterday, but instead spent the majority of the day making these shirts to bring with me.  Priorities people!  :o)  I just started with some old t-shirts that I had, made some flowers, and presto - some new shirts to bring on my trip!  The white one took no time, but the red took WAY longer than I had anticipated.

I am going to be gone for a week, my mom is recovering from surgery and needs some help.  I will try to post as much as I can.  I figure I am going to either have a ton of time on my hands, or none at all.  Have a great week!!

Day 20 already? Here's a Cute Little Ponytail Holder!

Happy Day 20!  Man - this is flying by!  I have been wanting to figure out how to make some ponytail holders because Addison wears a ton of them.  So I think I finally got it down.  I also will be doing some craft shows in the near future, and I am wanting to sell these.  (Love it when my projects accomplish more than one goal!)  Here's my first one:

These may even be Etsy worthy as well.  Hmm...lots of potential!

Till tomorrow!

Backpack Name Tags - Day 8

Into week 2 - and I'm having so much fun!  Today is a quick but cute project because I am going on a field trip with Addie's class.  So with her in mind, I decided to make a name tag for her backpack.

I had made some luggage tags awhile back for some clients as bridal shower favors.  Here's a few of them:

I still have some of those plastic covers, which are really durable.  Addie is so hard on all of her stuff, so I knew whatever I made for her would have to endure being tossed around.  I also wanted something pretty simple.  As I was designing them, she sat with me and picked out which colors she wanted (pink and purple of course) and she told me that she wanted flowers.
This is what I came up with:

Have a great day!  Till tomorrow!
